New Delhi: Kerala Chief Minister A K Antony on April 24 signalled a truce with his arch-rival K Karunakaran, whose 26 MLAs voted for
rebel Congress candidate in the recent Rajya Sabha elections, saying he does not favour any "major surgery" in the party.
"I don't believe in any major surgery. There are medicines available...This is a temporary phase. Don't expect a permanent battle between
us," Antony told reporters after a 30-minute meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi when asked whether he wanted disciplinary
action to be taken against Karunakaran.
Expressing confidence that the Congress high command would come out with a fair solution which would be acceptable to all, he
said, "The politics of annihilation is not the politics of Congress."
He visualised "no calamity" in Congress after the high command takes a decision on the problem in Kerala and said he did not expect a
continuing crisis in the state or any threat to his government.
