Inter-media tourney back after three years

Bangalore: A record number of 350 persons representing various segments of the media have confirmed participation in the four-day Trinity Hospital Inter-Media tournament commencing from April 26.

The Inter-media tourney organised by the Press Club of Bangalore (PCB) as an annual event remained suspended in the last three years and has been revived this year with the Trinity Hospital and Heart Foundation coming to sponsor the event, PCB Sports Committee Chairman, V Sanath Kumar said.

For the first time, outdoor games like cricket and football have been included in the media tournament in addition to events in Shuttle Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess, Carom, which would be staged over the four days and it was being supported by several sports bodies including, Karnataka Olympic Association, Karnataka State Cricket Association, Karnataka Badminton Association among others.

Karnataka Minister for Public Works, N Dharam Singh would inaugurate the tournament at the KGS Club on April 26 and Chief Minister S M Krishna distributes prizes on April 29.

Trinity Hospital Chairman and Chief of Cardiology, Dr B G Muralidhar said hereafter it would sponsor the Inter-media tournament annually to promote sporting activity among journalists.
