IPG says 2 pilots sent for SARS test; A-I denies
Thursday, April 24 2003 19:13 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: The Indian Pilots Guild (IPG) of Air-India (A-I) on April 24 claimed that two pilots have been asked to proceed for a SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) test.

The IPG said the two pilots have been asked by the company doctors to proceed for the confirmatory test, Capt Vikrant Sansare, general secretary, said in a statement.

Capt Sansare, however, declined to divulge the names of the two pilots saying the management "is aware of it".

An A-I spokesman denied the claim and said if any pilot was suffering from SARS they would have been isolated and the matter referred to the health authorities rather than sending them for a confirmatory test.
