2 Army personnel killed in militant ambush in JK

Srinagar: A major and a jawan were killed and three Army personnel injured in an ambush by militants in Baramulla district of North Kashmir in the wee hours of April 25, official sources said.

Militants opened heavy fire and lobbed grenades on the troops at village Sumblar in Bandipora, when they moved to the village following specific information about the presence of the ultras, the sources said.

They said a major and a rifleman died instantly and three jawans were injured in the ambush. The troops fired back, but the ultras fled taking advantage of the darkness.

A hunt has been launched to nab the militants involved in the attack, the sources said.
