Nothing good can happen unless NDA goes: Sonia
Friday, April 25 2003 22:21 Hrs (IST)
Bhopal: The Congress president Sonia Gandhi on April 25 said unless the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA (National Democratic
Alliance) government at the Centre was removed from office nothing good can happen in the country.
"Under this government, unemployment is increasing even as there is a steep rise in prices and Corruption," Sonia said in her address at a
massive Madhya Pradesh "cooperative convention" at the historic Lal Parade ground in Bhopal.
She said that whatever was happening today had broken the common man's back, there was total darkness all around and women were
facing the biggest burden because of all this.
The area under agriculture was shrinking even as materials used in agriculture were becoming costlier and farmers were not getting
enough price for their produce, Sonia
said.
The Congress president alleged that whenever BJP came to power either in the Centre or states, it worked for the destruction of the
agriculture and cooperative sectors.
In sharp contrast, the Congress had always worked for the betterment of the agriculture and cooperative sectors, which were the
backbone of our national economy, she said.
The Congress president in a dig at the BJP and its allies said that they believed in coming together only for the sake of their vested
interests.
She claimed that all the Congress governments in various states in the country were doing a much better job than the NDA government at
the Centre.
