Al-Madeena claims responsibility for JK attacks
Saturday, April 26 2003 16:32 Hrs (IST)
Srinagar: A little-known militant outfit, Al-Madeena Regiment, on April 26 claimed responsibility for the suicide attacks on the complex
housing All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD) and the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters at Bandipora.
A spokesman of the outfit called up Kashmir Press Service, a local news agency, and said three militants of Al-Madeena Regiment carried
out the attack on the media complex on April 26 afternoon. He identified the three as Farhat Askari, Shabir Usmani and Muslim Farooqi.
He said Askari exploded the car bomb at the main gate of the complex.
The outfit also claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on BSF headquarters at Bandipora on April 25.
Rejecting the dialogue process initiated by the Centre by deputing N N Vohra as its pointman to hold talks with people of Jammu and
Kashmir, the spokesman said tripartite talks involving Pakistan were the only solution to the Kashmir issue.
