Karunanidhi hospitalised, condition stable
Saturday, April 26 2003 17:46 Hrs (IST)
Coimbatore: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (DMK) president M Karunanidhi was admitted to a private
hospital on April 26 after he developed "low pressure and profuse sweating" in the middle of a book-releasing function.
"The condition of Karunanidhi is steady and his heart is stable, but he requires rest," Dr G Bhaktavatchalam, Chairman, K G Hospital said.
Karunanidhi's blood pressure was very low and he was profusely sweating when brought to the hospital. Two bottles of saline brought him
to normal, but the DMK chief was under observation in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Even though Karunanidhi was sitting and the blood pressure and pulse rate are normal, he needs at least a day's rest, as he was tired and
exhausted due to overnight travel and inadequate food.
A panel of four cardiologists are attending to the DMK chief. The Prime Minister's Office and Union Minister of State for Health and Family
Welfare A Raja enquired about the DMK's chief's health condition over phone.
