'AI pilots' decision to go on strike irresponsible'
Monday, April 28 2003 17:22 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Shahnawaz Hussain on April 28 termed as "irresponsible" the decision of the Air India (AI) pilots to go on strike and said the passengers were greatly inconvenienced due to cancellation of scheduled flights.

"The problems which are now faced by the passengers are not because of the AI management, but because of the Indian Pilots' Guild's (IPG) irresponsible decision," Hussain told reporters.

He said the pilots' decision to resort to a strike at the last moment without giving any notice was causing trouble to the passengers.

"If they wanted to go on strike, they should have done that. But, without doing that, they are making passengers stranded at various airports and creating problems for them," Hussain said.
