Srinagar: Prasar Bharati is considering life insurance cover for its staff in the Kashmir valley in the wake of suicide attack attempt by
militants on All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD) offices on April 26, its chief executive officer (CEO) K S Sarma said.
"Prasar Bharati is seriously considering to provide life insurance cover to its employees on the same lines as other organisations have
introduced in the valley," said Sarma, who is also director general of AIR.
The matter would be taken up at the board meeting of Prasar Bharati on May 8, he added.
The CEO complimented the staff for having shown "unfailing commitment" by continuing transmission despite the attack and assured
them that security would be further beefed up at all AIR and DD installations in the valley.
Sarma, who along with deputy director general, security, Prasar Bharti, Rakhi Sahi, and deputy director general (administration) Udhay
Sahai arrived on April 27 following the attack, which left three militants and two security men dead, asked the employees to carry on with
their mission of fair and truthful reporting.
He also met Kashmir's inspector general of police K Rajindra and conveyed his concern about the security of the staff in the valley.
The team later left of Jammu to meet chief secretary and other senior police officials on way back to Delhi.
