US welcomes Vajpayee-Jamali conversation

Washington: The United States on April 30 welcomed breaking of ice in India-Pakistan relations following a conversation between Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and his Pakistani counterpart Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

"We are pleased and encouraged by this development. It is a very welcome step forward in reducing tensions and beginning a process of engagement," US officials said.
