Two SIMI activists held in Mulund bomb blast case

Mumbai: In a fresh development in Mulund bomb blast case, police on May 2 arrested two alleged
Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists from Kalyan and Padgah villages in Thane district
and produced them before a special court which remanded them to police custody till May 15.
With their arrests, the total number of accused held in this case has gone up to six.
Mohammed Kamil and Farah Abdul Malik were picked up on May 1 from Kalyan and Padgah villages
respectively and arrested on May 2 under Prevention of Terrorist Act (POTA) for their alleged
involvement in the blast in a train at Mulund railway station on March 13 in which 11 persons were killed.
In a related development, co-accused Ghulam Abdul Khotal who was arrested from Ratnagiri on April
21was further remanded to police custody till May 15. During investigations, police came across vital
information about Khotal's alleged role in the conspiracy.
Prime accused Saquib Nachan was arrested on April 10 and booked under POTA. Nachan is the first
accused to be arrested in Mulund bomb blast case. Later, two more were arrested.
On April 29, police re-arrested Nachan in Ghatkopar bomb blast case. According to police, the
explosions in Mulund and Ghatkopar were masterminded by the same conspirators and Nachan had
allegedly played an active role in the conspiracy.
Nachan has been placed in police custody remand till May 12.
