Friday, May 2 2003 21:23 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: President A P J Abdul Kalam on May 2 condoled the death of 105 people killed in the earthquake that struck the Turkish city of Bingol.

Expressing his sorrow and sympathy to his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Necdet Sezer, the President said he hoped and prayed that the school children who were trapped in the debris of a school building would come out safely from the ordeal.

"I would like to convey on my behalf and those of the people of India our heartfelt condolence to the people of Turkey and to the relatives of victims of this tragic natural calamity. Our hearts go out to you in this hour of need and our help is always there for you in this crisis," Kalam said in his message.
