Kannur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Kerala unit president C K Padmanabhan on May 1 demanded
the resignation of Chief Minister A K Antony in view of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC)
chief K Muralidharan's recent "admission" that the administration under the Congress-led United
Democratic Front (UDF) government had come to a standstill.
Asking Antony to go in for a mid-term election, he also accused the UDF government of having failed to
fulfill any of the promises made during the electioneering despite returning to power with a thumping
majority.
Addressing a public meeting organised to welcome BJP Yuva Morcha's Nava Kerala Yatra to
Thiruvanathapuram, he criticised the Congress for growing factionalism in the party and claimed the
infighting over recent Rajya Sabha elections from the state had derailed all development
programmes.
He charged successive UDF and Left Democratic Front (LDF) governments with "communalising"
government machinery in the state and warned it was dangerous for the cultural identity of the
country.
He claimed that the fast development of the railway and national highway projects in the state was a
result of the "liberal assistance" extended by the BJP-led Union government.
