Mumbai: In a major haul, police has seized lethal chemicals and some arms from two militant training
centres following the arrest of six Students of Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists, having links with
Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT), in the Mulund blast case.
Disclosing this on May 3, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said militants had plans
to use the chemicals and weapons to carry out blasts and attacks similar to Akshardham temple at
Mantralaya, Chowpatty, Gateway of India and other crowded places in Mumbai besides some areas in
South India.
"With the arrest of six persons over a period of time, the police have managed to get to the root of the
entire Mulund blast case, which is clearly linked to the Ghatkopar blast case," he said.
Two militant training camps were unearthed on two hill-tops located around three hours drive from
Mumbai, he said.
Bhujbal said the most important seizure was that of one kg lethal potassium cyanide, bottles of sulphuric
acid, ammonium nitrate and nitric acid besides four AK-56 rifles, two pistols and an equal number of
revolvers.
The six arrested were SIMI activists with LeT links, he said adding earlier three persons wanted in the
case were killed in encounter.
