180 A-I pilots sign undertaking, services resumed

Mumbai: With more than 180 unionised pilots signing an undertaking by 17:00 hours (IST), the deadline
set for members of the derecognised Indian Pilots' Guild (IPG) to give an undertaking to resume flying,
Air-India (A-I) on May 3 announced restoration of flights to Singapore via Chennai and additional
services to the Gulf.
"We have over 180 pilots signing up the undertaking till this evening that they will operate flights as
assigned to them by the management even as extra flights are being added into the computer system,"
A-I sources said on May 3.
As on May 3, the airline has over 75 pilots, including the 35 who had reported for duty in past few days
and the number is expected to go up by in the next couple of days, the sources added.
A-I also announced a revised schedule to be effective from May 4 till May 7, which includes restoration
of flights on the Chennai-Singapore sector. Several other flights, earlier cancelled, have also been
restored.
While all flights to Frankfurt, Paris, London, New York, Newark and Chicago will continue to be operated
as per normal schedule, changes have been effected in the schedule of some services to the Gulf and
South East Asia, an A-I release said.
Meanwhile, the management on May 2 couriered individual letters to pilots owing allegiance to the
derecognised IPG that they have to sign an undertaking to resume flying following withdrawal of the
strike and directives late on May 1.
