Sonia's Jammu rally cancelled due to bad weather
Saturday, May 3 2003 11:44 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi's scheduled visit to Reasi town of Udhampur district on May 3 to address a public rally has been cancelled following bad weather in the region, sources said.

Gandhi's chopper could not take off in the morning due to a dust haze in the capital.

During her one-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Gandhi was scheduled to visit Vaishno Devi shrine in Trikuta hills.

After the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-Congress coalition came to power in Jammu and Kashmir, Gandhi had promised state party leaders that she would regularly visit the area, but could not do so following her busy schedule including her engagements in Parliament, the sources said.
