Bangalore: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on May 3 night said Pakistan has to end cross-border
terrorism for improvement of bilateral relations following the initiative to restore full diplomatic ties.
"That has to be done," Vajpayee told reporters on his arrival at the Bangalore airport on a day's visit to
the city late May 3 night, when asked if he was confident of Pakistan ending cross-border
terrorism.
Asked how he would "reciprocate" to Pakistan's invitation to him to visit that country, he said, "I have
already replied to the letter."
Within hours after receiving a formal invitation from his Pakistani counterpart Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali,
Vajpayee has written back to him on India's commitment to improvement of bilateral relations for which
there was an immediate need for an end to cross-border terrorism and dismantling of its
infrastructure.
Asked if he foresaw the possibility of mid-term polls, Vajpayee quipped, "Assembly polls you
mean?"
Vajpayee would christen the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) at a function at the Bangalore airport on May 4
morning before emplaning for Chennai in the afternoon.
Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi, Chief Minister S M Krishna and senior officials and state Bharatiya
Janata Party (BJP) leaders received Vajpayee at the airport.
