New Delhi: India on May 5 said it was awaiting a "positive response" from Pakistan to Prime Minister Atal
Behari Vajpayee's proposals for appointment of new High Commissioner and restoration of civil aviation
links on a reciprocal basis.
"We are waiting for a positive response (from Pakistan) on these two proposals," an External Affairs
Ministry spokesman told reporters.
Asked whether India was surprised at the lack of quick response from Pakistan to its initiatives, he
said, "It is not my job to be surprised or not to be surprised. I am just supposed to brief you on
developments."
On whether any decision has been taken on who will be India's next High Commissioner to Pakistan, he
said, "I am not aware of any decision."
About Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's reported remark that his country was willing to consider
a "no-war" pact with India, he said, "I have seen that report but I have no comments."
India has already indicated that there would be careful preparations on the ground before going in
summit-level talks, implying that officials have to first work out the nitty-gritty.
