1 killed, 33 hurt as ultras blast bus stand in JK

Srinagar: Nine people, including seven militants, were on May 5 killed and 34 injured in separate
incidents in Jammu and Kashmir where ultras targeted two National Conference leaders, triggered a
powerful explosion near a crowded bus stand and security forces seized a missile and huge cache of
weapons from hideouts.
Militants hurled a grenade near a crowded bus stand in Doda district which hit a bus killing one
passenger on the spot and injured 33 others, five critically, official sources said.
Senior National Conference leader Ghulam Ahmad Saloora was critically injured when militants triggered
an explosion which ripped through his car at Ganderbal on May 5 morning while he was on way to the
market without his security guards, they said.
Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, including an improvised explosive device (IED) expert wanted in several
cases and carrying a reward of Rs one lakh on his head, was killed in a gunfight with security personnel
at Kulagam in Anantnag district. A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was also injured in the
encounter.
Three Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) ultras were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Thanamandi
area of Rajouri district while an unidentified ultra was shot dead in another exchange of fire in Khajmola
area of the same district.
Two militants were killed in a gunfight at Mehra in the district.
Militants targeted another NC leader Omar Din by detonating a crude bomb near his house at Chiliwala
village and firing at it. However, no one was injured in the attack as the guards at the NC leader's house
retaliated.
