’93 blast case: Special court summons Sanjay Dutt

Mumbai: A special court has summoned actor Sanjay Dutt and 86 others, accused in the 1993 bomb blast case to appeal on May 6 for recording the plea on additional charges framed against co-accused Ejaz Pathan.

The court had framed charges against Pathan on May 3. He pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court also recorded the plea of 28 accused, who are in custody, they too pleaded not guilty.

Pathan was deported from Dubai in March. He is alleged to have participated in the conspiracy to create a series of explosions in Mumbai on March 12 1993.

He also allegedly sent his men to Pakistan via Dubai for arms training and helped prime accused Tiger Memon in landing of arms and ammunition at Raigad coast in Maharashtra.

Sanjay and 86 other accused have been directed to appear on May 6 before designated judge P D Kode.

They were exempted till today on conditions that they will not contact absconding accused in this case and not leave the city limits.
