ULFA Commander-in-Chief's house attacked

Guwahati: The second man in United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) hierarchy, 'Commander-in-
Chief' Paresh Baruah's house was attacked by
unidentified gunmen in Assam's Dibrugarh district on May 6 police said.
Although Baruah was not in the house as he was reportedly hiding in a neighbouring country, his mother
and two brothers along with their families were asleep in the house at the time of the attack around 1.45
am.
Police said the assailants came in a vehicle to Baruah's house at Jerai Chakaligharia village, under
Chabua police station and opened indiscriminate fire.
The police deployed in the house for the security of Baruah’s family retaliated forcing the attackers to
flee. No casualty was reported.
Stating the identity of the gunmen was not immediately ascertained, police said senior district police
officials were busy on investigation at the spot.
During search operations police recovered 44 rounds of empty cases of AK-47 rifle fired by the
attackers who sprayed the bullets at the tin roof of the house.
