Baghdad: US officials on May 7 said they had captured another member of Saddam Hussein's regime.

An Australian newspaper reported that it had been handed a tape purportedly recorded on May 5 in which deposed leader Saddam Hussein urges Iraqis to remain loyal and join the battle against US forces occupying the country.

In Qatar, US officials said a once-leading Baath Party and militia commander for Central Iraq was in coalition custody. They provided no detail on how Ghazi Hammud al-Ubaydi fell into their hands. He was number 32 on the US list of 55 most-wanted Iraqis.
