15 militants, 5 security personnel killed in J&K

Srinagar: Twenty-two people, including 15 militants and five security personnel, were killed and eight
jawans injured in fierce gunbattles as the Army foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir, official
sources said on May 7.
A major tragedy was averted with timely detection of a grenade at crowded Batmaloo bus stand in
Srinagar on May 7.
The device was successfully defused by the bomb disposal squad, a police spokesman said.
The infiltration attempt, first after snow started melting along the possible routes in the valley, was foiled
when the troops killed five militants in the higher reaches of Yousmarg in Badgam district of Central
Kashmir on May 7, a Defence spokesman said.
Two Army personnel were also injured in the encounter lasting several hours, the spokesman
said.
In another major incident, the sources said two Army personnel were killed and six injured when ultras
ambushed a search party on their way back to the camp at Satrina crossing in Rafiabad area of
Baramulla district in North Kashmir.
Two Pakistani militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire which
continued for about three hours, the sources said.
In a separate ambush, Major A K Dubey was killed in Dharha area of Rajouri district on May 6 night, the
spokesman said.
