Islamabad: Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Muhammad Kasuri on May 7 suggested a two-month
timeframe for the two countries to hold officials' meetings followed by Foreign Minister-level talks to
resolve all outstanding issues.
Participating in a discussion programme on state-owned television on May 7, Kasuri said Pakistan
prepared the ground for talks with India ever since President Pervez Musharraf had come out with the
proposal to have talks anywhere and anytime after taking over power in 1999.
"When the President was saying that we are prepared for that, I do not think it is appropriate for people
to feel to be apprehensive that we are not prepared," he said.
He, however, said, "We are prepared but we are not rushing into it."
"I do agree that to some extent Prime Minister Vajpayee's argument that we need to prepare for this
dialogue. But the preparations should not take years. It should be completed in a few weeks or at least
in a couple of months."
