Shillong: The Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang has said that no politician will be spared if found
having any link with militants.
''None is above the Law. The Chief Minister, Minister or anyone if found guilty will be put behind bars,''
Lapang said on May 6.
When Lapang's attention was drawn to media reports saying that Achik National Volunteer Council
(ANVC) militants in Meghalaya had a meeting with the former Lok Sabha speaker and MP from
Meghalaya, P A Sangma, to mediate with the Centre, Lapang did not comment.
Neither did he say anything when asked for comments on his predecessor, F A Khonglam's statements
alleging that three politicians of the state had links with ultras.
However, pressed by the reporters to comment on the former State Minister A H Marak's official vehicle
being seized by the police recently for its alleged use by ANVC militants, Lapang admitted that Marak
was absconding.
''The Home Minister told me that Marak is absconding,'' Lapang said adding his government
was "serious" on the matter.
