Barasat (WB): Barely 48 hours after an attack on Union Minister Tapan Sikdar, West Bengal's Public
Works Department (PWD) Minister and Revolutionary Socialist party (RSP) leader Amar Chowdhury was
allegedly heckled by a group of Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) activists at Jeliakhali in North 24
Parganas district of the state.
Superintendent of police Basudev Bag said as soon as Chowdhury disembarked from a launch at
Jeliakhali at 8.00 pm (IST) on May 6 night to address a panchayat poll meeting, CPM activists allegedly
hurled brickbats on the RSP workers.
The Minister took shelter in the house of an RSP leader from where the police rescued him later, the SP
said.
In the clash, local RSP leader Ramprasad Ghosh was injured seriously, he said.
The RSP has filed an first information report (FIR) naming seven CPM activists, party sources said.
The Minister spoke to Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee and apprised him of the incident,
sources said.
