20 killed by Tripura ultras in two incidents

Agartala: Insurgents killed 20 persons and injured six others in Tripura in two separate incidents late on May 6 night, police said.

Suspected insurgents of banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) raided Sidhai village of West Tripura district late on May 6 night and opened fire from sophisticated weapons, killing 18 persons on the spot, police said.

Six others were injured in the attack by ultras, who later fled from the spot, police said.

The injured were shifted to G B Hospital in Agartala.

In a separate incident, militants of banned National Liberation Front (NLF) of Tripura raided Kumarghat village of North Tripura district and shot dead two non-tribals late on May 6 night, police said.

The ultras later managed to escape.

Police launched search operation in both areas to nab the ultras.
