Bangalore: Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has been chosen as the best company for the year 2002-03 by the Bangalore Stock Exchange (BgSE).

BEL has the distinction of being the first public sector undertaking to receive this award, a company release said on May 9.

BEL Chairman and Managing Director Dr V K Koshy will receive the award on behalf of the company at a function in Bangalore on May 9.

This is the sixth year running that the best company award is being given by the Bangalore Stock Exchange.

Earlier winners include Infosys, Wipro, Himatsingha Seide, Digital Equipments and UB Ltd, it said.
