'Time not ripe to send Parliamentary team to Pak'
Monday, May 12 2003 17:39 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi on May 12 ruled out sending a Parliamentary delegation to Pakistan "at this moment" as Islamabad has not put an end to cross border terrorism.

"It can only happen at an appropriate time and not at this moment. India has been repeatedly asking Islamabad to put an end to cross border terrorism but it has not happened," Joshi told Doordarshan News.

He said the Prime Minister and government would assess as to when the time was ripe to do so and then he (Speaker) will think about it. "The dialogue has not yet even begun and time is not yet ripe to send a delegation to Pakistan. In fact, cricket and other sporting links could only begin later."
