New Delhi: Describing himself as a "film critic", Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on May 13 asked the
media to join the fight against the proxy war, which he said was more difficult to combat than a regular
war.
Taking time off his schedule, Advani watched a 40-minute screening of "Mission Akshardham", a telefilm
by Zee TV on the conspiracy behind the attack on the temple in Gandhinagar.
He suggested that the film should have shown more on the National Security Guards and more of
Gujarat. "I have again become a film critic," Advani said.
He asked the media to make people aware of the evils of terrorism and highlight the capability of the
country in tackling the menace. Information should be given in such a manner that it created optimism
and not pessimism or cynicism, the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Advani said since Pakistan had tasted defeat in all the three regular wars against India since 1947, it
was indulging in proxy war, using infiltration and terrorism as its weapons.
"I feel it is more difficult to fight proxy war than a regular war, in which only the army is involved. In a
proxy war innocent women and children fall victims," he said.
Lauding the efforts of Zee TV in reconstructing the attack on Akshardham temple last year, he praised
the channel for making a film on the terrorist attack on Parliament.
"Mission Akshardham" is an attempt by Zee TV to recapture the incident when militants attacked the
famous temple killing innocent people. The film exposes the nexus between various terrorist groups and
the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
