Bangalore: Defence Minister George Fernandes said on May 13 that infiltration of militants from across the Pakistan border was "looking" down at the moment.

"I have always said that infiltration has its ups and downs. At the moment, it is looking down and that does not mean tomorrow, it may not go up," Fernandes told reporters in Bangalore.

He said that the confidence-building measures with Pakistan under the new peace initiative were being undertaken but ruled out setting a time frame for restoring normalcy.

"The road map is being done now and it (restoration of normalcy) will take time. Nobody can fix a time for it," Fernandes said.
