Godhra: Key accused remanded to judicial custody
Tuesday, May 13 2003 17:26 Hrs (IST)

Ahmedabad: The POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) court on May 13 remanded Maulvi Hussain Umarji, allegedly the main conspirator of the Godhra train carnage, to judicial custody at Vadodara central jail.

POTA judge Sonia Gokani ordered Umarji's judicial custody as the special investigating team (SIT) did not seek further police remand.

Umarji, who was sent to five day's police custody as per a recent High Court order, was produced before the POTA court on May 13.

He and other accused, arrested earlier, would be charge-sheeted on May 22.
