Stop cross-border terror then talk: PM to Pak
Tuesday, May 13 2003 15:01 Hrs (IST)

Manali: Talks between India and Pakistan cannot begin till cross-border terrorism is put an end to and terrorist infrastructure in that country dismantled, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee said on May 13.

Speaking to reporters on his arrival at Manali for a six-day retreat, he said Pakistani leadership's call for starting an "unconditional" dialogue does not have any meaning, as "it is essential that cross-border terrorism must end".

"Without that, how can a climate for talks be created," he said in response to questions.

Not only should cross-border terrorism be ended, but the training camps and terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan must also be dismantled, Vajpayee added.
