Pak's response to PM's initiatives insincere: RSS
Tuesday, May 13 2003 18:43 Hrs (IST)
Bangalore: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) on May 13 said Islamabad's response to Prime
Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's peace initiatives is "insincere, non-serious and just to please certain
forces".
RSS spokesman Ram Madhav told a news conference that whenever political process starts between
the two countries, New Delhi should tell Pakistan categorically that the basis for dialogue should only be
the 1994 Resolution of Indian Parliament.
"India should categorically state that the only outstanding issue to be settled between the two countries
is the status of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK)…how and when are they going to return PoK," he
asserted.
He also said Indo-Pak dialogue should be held in the spirit of the 1972 Shimla Agreement.
Madhav debunked an impression sought to be created by certain forces that Vajpayee announced the
peace initiatives following US pressure, saying that suggestion to that effect is in a way insult to them
(PM and his colleagues) and questioning their integrity.
Describing Vajpayee and his colleagues as statesmen, he said the Prime Minister is standing up
to "pressure tactics" and taking steps in the national interest.
Stating that India's accommodativeness and liberal approach has led to shrinking of border in the past,
Madhav asserted that the line of control (LoC) should never be accepted as international border.
