Kozhikode: Alleging that "arms and weapons have been stockpiled by Islamic fundamentalist groups to
carry sudden attacks", Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on May 13 asked the Kerala government to order
raids at some of the places of worship.
"We have information that arms have been stored in large quantities at many places of worship at
Kasaragod, Kollam, Palakkad, Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram and a thorough search will definitely
result in their seizure," VHP's national vice president P Ramachandran and state president K V Madanan
said.
They alleged that Islamic fundamentalists were holding clandestine meetings to allegedly unleash
sudden attacks at several places in the state. "The Antony government should pre-empt them by
ordering raids at places of worship," they said.
Alleging that the Marad carnage was due to "total intelligence failure" on the part of the UDF (United
Democratic Front) government, he said raids subsequent to the incident that had claimed nine lives, had
resulted in recovery of large cache of arms, including from the premises of a place of worship.
