New Delhi: Extending an earlier relief to the three Hinduja brothers facing trial in the Rs 64 crore Bofors
pay-off case, the Supreme Court on May 14 permitted them to go abroad till July 21.
The extension was given by a vacation Bench comprising Justice N Santosh Hegde and Justice Shivaraj
V Patil when the matter was mentioned before them by senior advocate Ram Jethmalani on behalf of the
Hindujas.
While giving the extension, the Bench said as it was heard before by another Bench headed by Justice
M B Shah, the application of the Hindujas would be placed before the same Bench on July
21.
On February 27, the apex court had allowed the three brothers to go abroad together till May
2.
As per conditions attached to the bail granted to them earlier by the Supreme Court, one of the brothers
had to stay in India at all points of time. However, the three brothers were allowed to go out of the
country together on the eve of Diwali last year to celebrate the festival with their families in
London.
