New Delhi: Four days after his government came in for a sharp attack from People's Democratic Party (PDP) president and his daughter Mehbooba Mufti, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on May 14 defended the security forces in the state and said they were accomplishing their task nicely.

"The security forces have been doing their duty with complete dedication and the Human Rights violation have decreased drastically," Sayeed said at the end of his three-day visit to the national capital.

Asked about the charges of his party president Mehbooba Mufti, Sayeed said, "After her comments, I called for the records and found that only four such violations had taken place during the last six months of my government."

"Two of them have been established while enquiry is on in rest of the two," Sayeed said and added "actually, people have such great expectations from this government that they do not want any Human Rights violations."

Referring to Mehbooba's statement on May 10 in which she alleged that Human Rights violations had been on increase since the March 23 Nadimarg incident, the Chief Minister said, "she has laid emphasis on the fact that violations should not happen at all and this is a genuine cause".

He, however, agreed that after the Nadimarg carnage, the situation in the state had deteriorated to a large extent. "But now things are coming back fast to normal as the mindset of the people had changed and they were vehemently against violence in any form."
