New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed on May 14 said separatist
groups including Hurriyat Conference could "not afford" to spurn the offer of talks with the Centre's
interlocutor N N Vohra.
"They cannot afford to spurn the offer. After all he is government's emissary. Wait and watch. They will
come to the table," Sayeed said on completing his three-day visit to the national capital.
When reminded that Hurriyat had already declined to meet Vohra, Sayeed said, "It is not correct. They
(Hurriyat) have not yet availed of the opportunity to talk to the Centre's point-man."
"May be they are expecting formal invitation," he added.
The Chief Minister also said that people should not expect results in the beginning itself. "After all some
time needs to be given to separatists as well. Everything will not happen in the first meeting itself," he
added.
When his attention was drawn towards militants declining his offer for ceasefire, Sayeed said, "I say they
have no cause to fight in Kashmir. Their declining of offer has no relevance. When India and Pakistan
are ready to talk on all issues including Kashmir, which cause they will plead to be undertaking."
