Varanasi: For the first time in Uttar Pradesh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on May 14 distributed
tridents in Chandauli district.
VHP working president Ashok Singhal distributed the tridents to 60 workers of the outfit and the Bajrang
Dal at function in Moghalsarai on May 14 afternoon.
He was originally scheduled to distribute tridents to 150 workers, but the number was cut down following
non-availability of the 'trishuls' in time.
Later addressing the workers, Singhal asked them to unite Hindus irrespective of caste and creed. "The
unity of the Hindus is necessary for prosperity, security of the country and world peace," he said.
Alleging that the "so-called secular forces are following the policy of minority appeasement", he
cautioned the people against their designs.
