Boy mistakes bomb for ball, gets hurt in blast

Kannur: An 11-year-old-boy was injured when a crude bomb exploded near a house under construction at Oorpally near Kuthuparamba on May 15, about 25 km from Kannur, police said.

The incident occurred when a group of children found two crude bombs hidden in a heap of stones in the premises and started playing with it mistaking it to be a ball.

However, one of the bombs exploded injuring the 11-year old boy while the other bomb was handed over to police.

The boy, who sustained minor injuries, has been hospitalised, the sources said.
