Manali (HP): National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra on May 16 briefed Prime Minister Atal Behari
Vajpayee on the talks he had with US President George W Bush and other American leaders during his
recent visit to Washington in the backdrop of Indo-Pak peace overtures.
During the hour-long meeting with Vajpayee, who is on a sojourn in Manali, Mishra also apprised him on
the talks he had with British Prime Minister Tony Blair's Foreign Policy Advisor David Manning in
London.
While on his way to Washington, Mishra had a stop-over in London to have a meeting with US Deputy
Secretary of State Richard Armitage ahead of the latter's visit to India and Pakistan.
Mishra was unable to meet Vajpayee on his return from his week-long trip to UK, US and France on May
16 night as the Prime Minister had left for a six-day holiday.
After holding talks with his US counterpart Condoleeza Rice in the White House on May 8, Mishra was
ushered in to the Oval Office for a 15-minute "substantive" meeting with Bush focusing on the fresh Indo-
Pak peace moves.
Bush praised Vajpayee's initiatives and noted the deepening of friendship between India and the US.
