10 POTA accused among 16 sent to judicial custody

Ahmedabad: A court in Sanand on May 16 sent to judicial custody 16 persons, including the 10 POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) accused, allegedly involved in the "tiffin bomb" blasts inside local transport buses in May last year.

Judicial magistrate N V Raval rejected the prosecution's plea to extend the police remand for 10 more days and ordered judicial custody, police sources said.

The five "ISI agents" nabbed on April 3 – Mohammed Pervez Sheikh, Rehan Abdul Majid Punthawala, Mohammed Yunus Sareshwala, Mohammed Riaz alias Goru Abdul Wahid Sareshwala and Munawar Beigh alias captain Yakub Miyan Mirza were produced in court along with 11 others.

The other five POTA accused include Afzal Khan alias Babu Murtuza Khan, Idris Khan Pathan, Mohammed Zaheer Mohammed Iqbal sheikh, Mehbood Rajasha and Mohammed Tareeq Sheikh.
