Minister sacked in connection with poetess' murder

Lucknow: The controversial Stamp and Printing Minister Amar Mani Tripathi, whose name has been mentioned in connection with the murder of young poetess Madhumita Shukla, was on May 17 removed from the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet.

Chief Minister Mayawati, who faced increased demands from political parties for his immediate removal, also ordered a Crime Branch CID investigation into the killing.

Simultaneously, senior superintendent of police, Lucknow Anil Agarwal has been shifted from the present post.
