New Delhi: The Election Strategy Committee of Congress, headed by Manmohan Singh, on May 17
directed party leaders in states going to polls later this year to strengthen the party organisation at all
levels as also booth committees to ensure return of the party in these states.
This is the first meeting of the Election Committee to discuss the party's preparedness in the five states -
which includes four Congress-ruled states - Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Chhatisgarh, Rajasthan and
Delhi.
In the first sitting, the committee reviewed the preparedness in Chhatisgarh and Mizoram followed by
affairs in Delhi. Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan would be taken up on May 18.
"Chhatisgarh PCC chief Ramanuj Yadav and I attended the meeting and apprised them about our
preparedness for the next Assembly elections. They gave us some tips and instructions which we would
be implementing," Chhatisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi told reporters after the two-hour long meeting.
Refusing to divulge the details of the discussion, Jogi said preparation of party workers, voters list,
strengthening of both committees and frontal organisations were among the broad issues taken up at
the meeting.
