Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati on May 19
ruled out the possibility of her party joining the Union Cabinet.
"All such reports appearing in a section of media are far from truth and imaginary," she said in a
statement released amidst reports that a BSP representative might be inducted in the Cabinet, which
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee hopes to reshuffle soon.
The Chief Minister said no discussions were held with Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in this regard
at any point of time.
"Some vested interests have been working overtime and spreading rumours regarding the possibility of
BSP joining the Union Cabinet every time the Cabinet is either expanded or reshuffled," she said,
adding, "There has been no change in the party's stand on this count."
"The party's stand is clear that it would extend its full support to the Union government from outside but
would not join it," Mayawati said.
