Tuesday, May 20 2003 15:29 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: A person carrying a pistol was apprehended near a Parliament House gate on May 20, police said.

Rajesh Rathore, aged about 30, was immediately taken for joint interrogation by intelligence agencies and police, they said.

Rathore was nabbed at gate Number 3 on Raisina Road side at around 12.00 noon (IST) and an air pistol along with two live cartridges were recovered from him, they said.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rathore hails from Baroda in Gujarat and had arrived in Delhi early on May 20 from Jammu Express train, deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi district) Manoj Lall said.

Married with three children, Rathore, a driver by profession, seems to be a vagabond, he said.

He allegedly had a fight with his family members and was thrown out.
