Ultras go the rampage in J&K, gash woman's throats

Srinagar: Militants slit open throats of two women, shot dead another person and set off two explosions
damaging a bridge in Kashmir valley on May 20, official sources said.
A widow and her daughter were brutally killed by unidentified militants, who raided their house in Aragam
village of Baramullah district in the wee hours of May 20, the sources said, adding their throats were
found slit with some sharp edged weapons.
They said the motive behind the killing was not known immediately.
In another incident, the ultras shot dead a person from Paner village in Tral area of Pulwama district in
North Kashmir, the sources said.
Sources said the ultras blasted a wooden bridge at Sumlar village in Bandipora area. The window pans
of some residential houses located nearby were also damaged under the impact of the explosion.
They also detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) at Kulangam in Kupwara district on May 20,
when some Army vehicles were moving on the road.
However, the blast missed the intended target causing no loss of life or damage, the sources said.
Meanwhile, Kupwara district town observed a shutdown on May 20 in protest against the arrest of a
shopkeeper by Rashtriya Rifles on May 19.
Shops and business establishments in the district headquarters remained closed and transport went off
the roads as people demanded release of the shopkeeper, reports added.
