PM, Advani discuss Union Cabinet reshuffle
Tuesday, May 20 2003 15:45 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee on May 20 held discussions with Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani on the reshuffle of his council of ministers he plans to carry out possibly this weekend.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president M Venkaiah Naidu and Finance Minister Jaswant Singh also attended the meeting held at the Prime Minister's race course road residence.

None of the participants were inclined to talk to the waiting media persons after the meeting.

On May 18, announcing his intention to undertake the reshuffle, Vajpayee had indicated that Trinamool Congress leader Mamamta Banerjee may be inducted along with some new faces. He had also said the extra burden on some of the ministers would be reduced, a hint that some ministers holding more than one portfolio may be divested of the multiple responsibilities.

However, BJP sources expressed confidence that the party representatives with more than one portfolio may not be disturbed.
