Baghdad: Several Iraqis were killed in a firefight with US troops outside the flashpoint town of Fallujah overnight, one of the US soldiers whose patrol was attacked told a western news agency on May 22.

"We did return fire. A few of them were killed", he said. The patrol had come under fire from at least nine attackers with rocket-propelled grenades in an industrial area on the outskirts of the city, he added.
