Three killed, six injured in train derailment in AP

Hyderabad: Three persons were killed and six others injured seriously when two bogies of a passenger train derailed at Venkatapuram in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh on May 25 morning.

The metre gauge 287 Pakala-Bellary passenger train, running between Pakala and Guntakal of South Central Railway (SCR) division, derailed at 9.15 am (IST), director inspector general (DIG) Anantapur range, A V Narayana said.

Rescue operations have immediately been launched jointly by SCR personnel and local police, he said, adding the injured have been shifted to nearby government hospital.

The Railways is also contemplating shifting the seriously injured passenger to a hospital at the district headquarters, the DIG added.
